Alissa
Hi y’all. My name is Alissa, Co-Founder of OHBI.
I’ve heard that a person’s favorite thing to talk about is themselves. Sounds like death to me but here I am, writing an “About Me” post. Ya feel me introverts?
I spent most of my youth in the teeny town of Columbiaville, Michigan. Growing up on ten acres of land in the Midwest means you have survived enough blizzards for a lifetime and have probably wrangled a few pigs in your day. I have lived a few other places since then but currently reside in Sacramento, California. Vernors and Coney Dogs will always have a special place in my heart but I firmly believe the West Coast is the best coast.
Love came fast and early for me. I met my husband when I was 18 and married him about a year later. We were (still are) crazy young babes who didn’t know the first thing about life or marriage but here we are six years later. My favorite thing about him is his ability to make anyone laugh. Not that polite laugh when you just meet someone but that silent cry laugh that makes you feel like you just gained a six pack for the summer. His creative heart and desire for connecting with people is such a gift to experience by his side. If anyone knows my Cam, they would say the same thing. His looks aren’t too bad either. SWOON.
My second greatest passion (besides OHBI) is my dog. I’m just kidding but I really do love him. He is a rescue pup and after much research on Google we have decided he is a Miniature Greyhound/Terrior mix. Sounds cool right? In reality he’s probably a mutt with a lot of Chihuahua but who wants to admit that? We call him Timmy, Tubey, or Timmy Tube. His oddly long body and lanky limbs earned him his name “Tubey”. See pics below:
Most days I really just want to stay home with my dog and work on all of the ideas/projects we have for OHBI but a girls gotta pay bills. What’s my day job? Well one could say, Excel wizard by day and blogger by night. I actually LOVE all the typically terrible things about jobs. Data entry and answering emails are pure enjoyment for me. Weird I know. To add a little more to my “old soul” vibe, I’ve also been running a small Etsy Shop since 2013. My shop is called Alist Stitches and I sell all kinds of crochet goodies.
Developing another creative space has been so good for my soul. I am such an advocate for our generation owning and expressing our creativity. It may not be fashion, DIY projects, or music but we all are creative in our own way and it is so important to cultivate and express it. It’s amazing what you can accomplish if you are organized, focused, and passionate about something. Also, it helps to have a partner who is beyond compare, Sarah.
I hope you enjoyed getting to know a little bit about one half of the OHBI team!
xoxo
