Shake Your Pom Poms!
This week at OHBI we're taking our pom pom obsession to a whole new level. Pom poms are trending right now and we can't get enough of them. Since we're girls on a budget and couldn't justify spending a ton of money to add these beauties to our accessory collection we figured out a way to make them ourselves. Before we could share this DIY with y'all we had to make sure these earrings were durable. What better way to put these babies to the test than a night on the town where all of our amazing dance moves (AKA flailing limbs and a lot of clapping) made an appearance. These cuties passed the test, so get ready to make the swankiest earrings you'll own!
The first step is to prep all of your materials. We created two different styles of the earrings: dangley pom poms and stud pom poms. For the dangley style, make sure to attach the head pins to the fish hook earrings. All you need to do is rummage through the old toolbox for those needle nose pliers! Once you have these items attached you'll have the foundation to create the perfect dangley earring.
Next up is making two perfect pom poms. There are few ways you can make pom poms but we found the Clover Pom Pom Maker creates the best. If you're unsure of how to use the Clover we recommend this excellent YouTube tutorial by Blitsy. After watching this you'll be a pro pom pomer in no time! After you have successfully created two pom poms you can trim the edges to make it the perfect size and evenly shaped.
Once your hot glue gun is blazin' place a small dollop of glue on the top of the pom pom and immediately place the head pin in the center of the glue. Hot glue dries quickly, but make sure to hold the head in place until it is completely dry. If you opted for the stud pom pom style you've got it way easier. Simply place a small dollop of glue on the flat part of the stud and plop that little acrylic pom pom baby on there!
Violá! Now you're ready to bop the day away with your one of a kind accessories! We dare you to try and not bop these cuties all day long. It's nearly impossible!
We had such a blast creating these pom pom earrings and we hope you are inspired to create something this week!
xoxo
