Super Bowl Supplies

Super Bowl Supplies

We sport! JK we don’t which is why we’re talking about the snacks and drinks we’ll be preparing while watching the Super Bowl Halftime show instead of the teams playing. Just being honest y’all! Before we talk about the supplies and the filthy hands you’ll need for this Americian Holiday we wanted to take a walk down memory lane and share our top five halftime show performnces.

LADY GAGA (2017)

We’re not sure what we loved more...her performance or the clap back she gave the haters afterwards. What could be more American than the army of drones (recorded but still cool) she had behind her as she stood at the top of the stadium belting ‘This Land is Your Land’ before swan diving off?! You could say she won us over right there but then she had a wardrobe change. Singing bad romance in high waisted sparkly hot pants and a crop top with her tummy that wasn’t a six pack on display sparked the trolls of the world to body shame her. Insert our eye rolls because news flash you don’t need to have a six pack to be beautiful. Gaga let the haters know she’s proud of her body, as she should be! A friendly reminder from the Poker Face princess we were all born to be brave. Thanks Gaga!

BRUNO MARS  (2014)

You could say the drum solo entrance paired with that gold blazer gave us all the heart eyes. SWOON.  It could have also had something to do with his Michael Jackson like moves. That’s obviously where the OHBI gals get their dance move inspo from. We can’t really pin point what we loved except that it all worked together. He even managed to sing ‘Runaway Baby’ in a mash up with The Red Hot Chili Peppers ‘Give it Away’ and it was amazing. You go Bruno baby, you go.

BEYONCE (2013)

The outline of her stage made two Beyoncé heads equipped with moving hair, only Beyoncé could pull this off. The entire performance was packed with all of the dance moves. We all know her facial expressions took the show for the rest of the world but for us we saw a strong woman gettin’ down and breakin’ it down! Don’t believe us?! We dare you to try and hit those moves without making any facial expressions... you probably can’t. She brought back Destiny’s Child for a medley of ‘Bootylicious’, ‘Independent Women’ and they even got in on ‘Single Ladies’. You could say our inner twelve year old selves were screaming for joy. In true Queen B fashion after eight minutes of non stop moving and singing she finishes off her performance with ‘Halo’ and still has the breath to belt it out. GOALS.

PRINCE (2007)

He performed Purple Rain in the pouring rain. It gave us all the feels. Not to mention his iconic style was a show in itself. The turquoise bell bottom suit with the orange shirt he wore for the performance was everything! We were all about his “love symbol” guitar that celebrates men and women becuse we’re all just humans and need to love each other, right?

JANET & JUSTIN (2004)

We’re not sure if it was the Rhythm Nation, Justin’s oversized pants, or Nipple-gate 2004 but we won’t ever forget this show. We’ve been waiting patiently for JT to be asked back to the Super Bowl since he had a hand (literal hand) in Janet Jackson’s wardrobe malfunction.

Next up on the OHBI Super Bowl list is snacks and libations! We don’t really agree to partake in any social event if there are no snacks. Lately, we’ve been obsessed with avacados. One of our favorite snacks to make with avis is guacamole.

Perfect Ripe Avocados and lime for a Super Bowl Party

Ingredients:

- 4 Small Ripe Avocados

- 2 tbsp of Lime Juice

- 1 Bushel of Cilantro (we LOVE Cilantro but feel free to use less)

- 1/4 cup Red Onion (finely chopped)

- 1 Jalapeño (finely chopped)

- 1/4 cup of Sour Cream for garnish

- 1/4 tsp of Salt

- 1/4 tsp of Pepper

- Tortilla Chips for serving

Avocados, Limes

Cut your avocados in half and remove the pits. Remember to save your skins for serving! Add the avocados in a bowl with the salt, pepper, and lime juice and mash together with a fork. Stir in the cilantro, red onion and jalapeño. Spoon the delish guacamole mixture into the avocado skins. Using a piping bag or ziplock baggy with the corner cut off, pipe the football lines on top of the guac. TADA! You're lookin' so festive and ready for the game! You can serve up this guac with a spicy piña marg! Get the recipe here
